Whilst his lyrics have adorned some of the best-selling Indian songs across decades, and his scripts have formed the backbone of numerous box-office hit movies, it was after a pause of 14 years that Javed Akhtar, the eminent Indian poet released his second book, ‘Lava’.
‘Lava’ was launched by Akhtar at New Delhi in February 2012 where his wife and activist Shabana Aazmi as well as his children Farhan Akhar and Zoya Akhtar were present. During the launch, some of the poems recited by Javed Akhtar from his new book were ‘Do Raha’, ‘Mela’ and ‘Shabana‘.
Javed Akhtar is a recipient of several awards, including Padma Bhushan, the highest civilian honour in India, and the ‘National Integration Award’.
